Kerala has a well-developed vegetarian cusine. You could try out the typical
lunch the Oonu' (or "Meals"). It is served on a clean
banana leaf (hygienic and disposable). Boiled rice is the staple of an Oonu'.
Two or three lighter curries are the norm. This will include the Sambar',
Rasam' and perhaps a fish curry or a curry made of buttermilk. The side
dishes could consist of one or two Thorens', Avial, Kaalan, Olen, Pachadi.
